How to make your old central heating system more efficient
This article explains how easy it is to bring your old central heating system up to date using the new Honeywell Sundial RF2 Packs. Many older central heating systems just don't cut-it when it comes to high-efficiency.
You may have a high-efficiency condensing boiler, but that is only part of the story. For the boiler to work at its most efficient also requires additional controls to be fitted to the central heating system. This has been a requirement of the Building Regulations for a number of years now.
Not only does your boiler need to know when to come on and when to switch off, it also needs to know when your home is up to temperature. The same applies to your hot water system, except if you have a combi boiler, where the water is heated on-demand.
This is done by having a timer or programmer and a room thermostat and/or hot water cylinder thermostat.
There are literally millions of households in the UK that do not have these basic central heating controls and are losing out on efficiency and also wasting money.
Thanks to Honeywell, there is now a solution that can be easily retrofitted to almost any system. The Honeywell Sundial RF2 Packs have been designed so that re-wiring and running new electrical cables is no longer necessary.
There are three packs: the Honeywell Sundial RF2 Pack 1 for combi boiler systems; Pack 2 for stored hot water with a hard-wired cylinder thermostat and wireless room thermostat; Pack 3 for wireless hot water cylinder thermostat and wireless room thermostat.
Pack 1 has a single channel programmer, whilst Packs 2 and 3 have a twin-channel programmer.
Each Honeywell Sundial RF2 Pack has Optimum Start, Delayed Start and Optimum Stop built-in as standard.
